Finals Night

Finals Night took place last Thursday in Wellington and District Pool League. The first match of the evening was the Singles. Gareth Ford of Dolphin Dilusionals beat Aiden Hodge of Rentokil to take the Winning Trophy. The Mixed Doubles final was playing at the same time, at a separate venue. Fran and sue Radford of Operation Annihilation won the first game, but Rowena White and Joey Booker of Row's Rebels took the next 3 games and the winning trophy.

The Team knockout between Dolphin Dillusional and Rentokil ended the evening. The match look as though it would be a quick a fair, after The Dolphin went 5-1 up, but Rentokil made a fantastic come back taking the match to a last game decider. Darren Copp and Guy Backhouse played the closely watched final game which saw Darren sink the black to take the winning trophy for Dolphin Dilusionals.

A special mention goes to Jez Harding. After running the web site and in fact the heart of the pool league for many years, he has decided to stand down. This role which can be thankless and challenging was made to look easy by Jez and kept the pool league running smoothly. A big thank you goes to him for all his time and effort spent on the pool league.

Thursday 8th April will see the start of the Summer league. Forms are available on the web site or should have been delivered to venues. Gary Deville will be taking over from Jez, so there will be new result cards issued with his address on it.

Week13

Last Thursday saw the semi final of the team knockout in Wellington and district pool league. Through to the final to be played on 2nd September are Snipers and Two Tee's.

Snipers remain top of The Red Division, with player Leon Sprague heading the players ratings. Second in the ratings goes to Dez Derrick and third to Gaz Smith, also both player for Snipers. Second place in this division goes to Dolphin Wanderers, with The Good, Bad and Curly's in third. Since the Sportsmans has now shut, it seems unlikely that spoil sports will continue with the season. The committee are still waiting for a response from their captain.

In the Yellow Division, Pot Blacks have remained unbeaten all season and if they continue to play as they have been look difficult to catch. Second place is The Croppers with a game in hand, while hot on their heels is Two Tee's, who have two games in hand. In the player ratings, Ian Benton of The bear hunters is in first position, with Andy Bowrah of Pot Blacks in second place and Ryan Redwood in third.
